Cleverix turns four
September 2026
In September 2022, Cleverix was two people and an idea. Four years later, we are a team of 15+ engineers, helping companies in fintech, ed-tech, health-tech and other industries ship with confidence, and building a product of our own that more than 5,000 padel players use. This is the short version of how that happened.
Two people
The company did not start with a business plan. It started with two engineers who had spent years watching good products suffer from rushed testing and poor engineering, and who believed there was room for a partner that treated quality as a craft rather than a checkbox. Testing was the first thing clients came to us for. Development, design and cloud work followed, because the same people who care about how software breaks tend to care about how it is built.
The early months were what early months always are: long days, a first client who took a chance on a company nobody had heard of, and the slow work of proving that a small team in Sofia could hold its own against much larger names.
Fifteen and counting
Every person who joined Cleverix in those four years changed the company a little. Some came straight from university, some brought a decade of experience from larger firms. What they have in common is a low tolerance for "good enough" and a habit of asking why before asking how.
Growing from two to fifteen-plus is not just a headcount story. It meant learning how to hand over trust, how to keep the standard we set at the start without the founders reviewing every line, and how to build a culture that people want to stay in. We are still learning that. But the fact that most of the team has been here for years, in an industry where people move every eighteen months, tells us we are getting some of it right.
The product we built for ourselves
For a long time all of our work was for other people. In early 2025 we decided to change that, and the team started building Courtly, a padel booking and matchmaking app for Bulgaria.
Courtly gave the whole company something it had not had before: a product with our name on it, real users who tell us exactly what they think, and no client between us and the result. It taught us more about shipping, listening and iterating than any engagement could.
Today Courtly is Bulgaria's leading padel app, with more than 5,000 users. Players book courts around the clock, find matches at their level and track their rating. DSK Bank is our partner for automatic fee splitting, and Asics is an official partner. It has ranked in the Top 10 of the Bulgarian App Store. We are prouder of it than of almost anything else we have done, because the whole team built it.
What we are proud of
Not the numbers, mostly. We are proud of the fintech client who has trusted us with their release process for years. Of a compliance system that passed certification the first time because someone read the specification twice. Of a migration nobody noticed, which was the point. And of a Tuesday-evening padel game where half the players on the court found each other through an app we made.
Four years in
We marked the anniversary the way it should be marked: cake, balloons, the whole team in one room, and an evening away from laptops with the people who made it possible.
The company looks nothing like the two-person team that started it, and everything like it at the same time. Same standard, more hands.
To our clients, thank you for trusting us with work that matters. To our team, thank you for the standard you hold every single day. To our partners, thank you for growing with us.
Year five is now in development.
